The Best Way to Spend Your Day in Boulder City, Nevada

I hadn’t been to Boulder City since I was a kid, so when my family invited me to join them on their afternoon trip to Boulder city, I said "Heck yes!".
Just 30 minutes from the neon lights of Las Vegas, Boulder City feels like stepping into a slower pace of life. No casinos, family-owned shops, and a small-town charm.
Fun fact: Boulder City is one of the only cities in Nevada that prohibits gambling — which explains why it feels worlds away from Las Vegas.
Boulder City is perfect for:
Vegas locals needing a quiet reset
Antique lovers and treasure hunters
Slow weekend explorers
Girls’ day trips
Here’s exactly how I spent a relaxing day in Boulder City.
Start with Coffee at Dam Roast House & Browder Bookstore
We began our day at Dam Roast House & Browder Bookstore, a cozy coffee shop and bookstore right in downtown Boulder City.

When I looked up must-visit coffee shops in Boulder City, Dam Roast House consistently popped up. So, I knew we had to try it.
I ordered the s’mores latte- topped with whip cream, graham crackers, chocolate drizzle and a toasted marshmallow. I’d rate it a 7/10. The chocolate syrup was overpowering. I couldn't taste anything else, but it was still a fun drink.
I was looking forward to browsing the bookstore. The selection isn’t massive, but it has some good options. One of my favorite book options was their “blind date with a book” section. It's such a cute concept where books are wrapped in paper with only a few descriptive hints written on the front.
Go Antiquing in Downtown Boulder City
Antique shopping in Boulder City is one of the best ways to enjoy a quiet day and really explore.
Sherman House of Antiques
After coffee, we headed to our first antique store

The moment I walked up to the store, I spotted the most beautiful vintage couches in soft, muted tones and stunning side tables. It gave princess vibes that I absolutely fell in love with. If I had the space, they absolutely would have come home with me.
The store is one level with multiple rooms branching off in different directions, which makes wandering feel effortless and fun. Around one corner, I found a floral bird bath column that felt like it belonged in a European garden.
I said, “Wait, come look at this,” at least ten times.
Visit Local Boutiques
Bloom: Salvage, Vintage, Design
Next, we popped into a small boutique to take a small break from antiquing.

If you love supporting local businesses, this is a fun place to browse. The boutique has two rooms filled with western chic type of wear. They also have decor and stationary items to choose from.
My family may or may not have hyped me up while I tried on the cutest patchwork pants, debating whether I “needed” them. They were just a little too long for me. That was only reason I didn’t buy them. I still think about them.
Explore Another Antique Store
Because one antique store is never enough, we also visited a larger antique emporium with two full levels.
Goat Feather Emporium

There was a huge variety of decor, vintage pieces, collectibles. The items I looked at are in good condition and quality. The prices are competitive to online resellers. Honestly, you could spend hours here if you love treasure hunting.
For how big the store is, everything is well organized. It was clean and easy to navigate the aisles.
If you’re looking for the best antique stores in Boulder City, this is a must-visit.
Lunch at 1933 Inside the Historic Boulder Dam Hotel

Around 1 p.m., we headed to 1933, a Hawaiian-inspired restaurant inside the historic Boulder Dam Hotel.
We ordered:
The boulder chicken sandwich
Teriyaki musubi
The club
They make their chips in-house, and those were honestly the highlight for me — so good.
Overall, I’d rate it a 6/10. It’s a solid lunch option if you’re already exploring downtown.
Is Boulder City Worth Visiting?
Yes! Especially if you’re a Vegas local looking for a quieter, slower-paced alternative to the Strip.
It’s close enough for an easy day trip but feels completely different from Las Vegas. Between coffee shops, antique stores, and historic spots, it’s the kind of place to visit if you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Vegas.
If you need a reset without hopping on a plane, this is your sign.
